Pet Portraits and Other Commissions

Sam welcomes commissions for Wildlife and Pets.

Paintings will be in acrylic paint on a box canvas or a slim canvas. A box canvas has a contemporary look, ideally to be hung unframed, whereas a slim canvas is more suited to having a frame.

Spaniel - Commission

Process

For a Pet painting, Sam requires a selection of clear photographs - ideally via email. For an extra charge she will visit you and your pet to take photographs herself. Once photos are received and decisions made with regards to the choice of canvas and composition, Sam is then ready to start your painting. Completion time from this point is usually 6-8 weeks, however, it is always worth enquiring if a painting is needed for a birthday or a special occassion, Sam may be able to accommodate your requirements.

Sam's paintings of Wildlife are generally composed from various ideas, sketches and photographs, so for example, an image of a 'Hare in a Meadow' in Sam's mind may be very different to how you would picture it in yours. Due to this, a commission for a Wildlife painting is a slightly more organic process. After an initial consultation, Sam can if required produce compositional sketches and send images as the painting progresses.

With a 'Wildlife' commission there is no obligation to purchase if you are not happy with the finished painting.
